Ultimate crypto trading app and wallet experience
ATX is a mobile app that unifies a traditional crypto wallet functionality with a saving account that allows for easy investment with high yields.
An app for crypto wannabies
A mobile app that gives users access to a saving account allowing them to invest in a cryptocurrency of choice without industry-specific knowledge or prior crypto experience.
The crypto industry is a field that lies on the intersection of business, technology, and culture with rowdyism your can rarely meet in each of the three separately. For a new project in the space, it’s important to find a parade and make it clear what the product is about. The client wanted to position ATX as a pro-grade tool minus the risk – a perfect fit for beginners.
The Mission
In the words of the client: “ATX has to make a statement for those who don’t know where to start and be perky enough for the people to give it a shot”.
Design philosophy
The idea is to give ATX a look of a high-end crypto app but without the complexity that usually goes into it. That way we would train users to becomes accustomed to the industry standards while not getting overwhelmed by the technicality.
Design scope
- User experience design
- User interface design
- Native iOS UI Kit production
- Illustration
- Motion design
Design process
The client brought in a legacy concept for us to work based off of. So the majority of the functionality was already distributed across the screens. However, our process does not allow us to blindly follow someone else’s research, so we conduct our own. And then evaluate the existing work and take action.
Legacy concept
The legacy concept did a good job outlining the main logic of the app but lacked character and brand vision.
Inspiration
Since the functionality of the app was limited by the client’s desire to negate a steep learning curve for the users, we had to find something else to give it a visual hook and get the audience interested or get them to make the decision towards ATX.
We have found the abstract symmetrical dark glass and radiance art to be inspirational and befitting the vibe we were looking for. The monumental and calming structures fall in contrast to the sporadic volatile nature of crypto that the masses are used to. This collision of stereotype and reality is what the main design principle came to be.
Illustrations
With a style at hand, we started looking for a way to apply it to a fairly minimal UI. After a few experiments, we made a decision to only use those for screen backgrounds as a subtle motif reflecting the brand personality but not pushing it too hard.
Native iOS design
Apple puts a lot of effort into giving developers a set of constantly updated tools to deliver great apps. Our team has developed an expertise for these guidelines and never fails submissions for the visual parts of the apps.
Crypto assets
A proper placement of information of the assets you own is central to the transparency of a crypto wallet experience. We’ve used a basic mountain chart with intuitive controls and large numbers displaying the change in the asset prices.
Home & Markets
The Home screen is essential for an app that works as a hub for some of your financial assets as it offers a set of simple controls and actions as well as summary info. The Markets screen offers a visual overview of the available options and is fairly simple to follow.
Watchlist
A watchlist is another take on the list layouts built for the Markets tab of the Home screen.
The Wallet
The wallet screens allow for a better control of your assets and, hence, need to be as informative and transparent as possible.
Buying & Selling
The core functionality of the app making it a real crypto tool is the ability to buy and sell assets within the app’s own exchange.
Saving account
The Savings screens are designed to give a set of simple options allowing users to invest their crypto assets for a clearly-stated and transparent yield.
Outcome
The ATX app came to exist in a strange time when the crypto industry took several blows but also gained extra publicity first from the people, and then leading to more control attempts from the governments. The product we’ve designed pictures a state of the industry during that time.
