When you need naming services

Naming is important when a company, product, or service needs a clear verbal starting point. We help when the current name no longer fits, a new launch needs a name, or your brand system has grown too hard to explain.

Product launch

Product launch

You are starting from scratch and need a name that can support positioning, identity, domains, and future product communication. We help turn an early idea into naming directions that feel clear, ownable, and ready to build on.

Repositioning

Repositioning

Your business has changed, but the name still points to the old audience, category, or promise. We look for a direction that better reflects where the product is going now, not where it started.

Rename after rebranding

Rename after rebranding

The brand direction is clearer now, and the name needs to match the new strategy instead of being carried along by habit. We help connect the name to the updated positioning, tone, and future identity system.

Cultural or market shift

Cultural or market shift

You are entering a new country, niche, or audience and need to check meaning, sound, tone, and possible misreads. We study the cultural context before shaping names that can feel natural in the right market.

Portfolio or sub-brand cleanup

Portfolio or sub-brand cleanup

Your products, services, or internal names have grown unevenly, and the system needs clearer naming logic. We help organize names so people can understand what belongs together and what each offer is for.

Choosing from existing ideas

Choosing from existing ideas

You already have generated internal name options, but need help testing, comparing, and choosing the strongest direction. We review the options through strategy, audience fit, sound, visual potential, and ownability.

Our brand naming services

From company and product naming to brand renaming and naming architecture, we help teams find names that fit their positioning, audience, and plans for growth. Our brand naming services can support a single launch or bring clarity to a wider portfolio of products, services, and sub-brands.

01

Company naming

For startups, teams, and businesses that need a clear brand name before they move into identity, website, fundraising, or launch.
02

Product naming

For apps, SaaS products, digital platforms, tools, and product ecosystems where the name needs to support positioning.
03

Service and product line naming

For a new service, feature, program, or product line that needs its own name while staying connected to the parent brand.
04

Name evaluation and selection

If you already have a shortlist, we compare the options through different contexts to help you choose a stronger direction.

Brand naming process

Our naming process moves from strategy to choice. We start by understanding your product, audience, market, and limits, then follow a clear creative path: territory, concept, name, sound check, visual and graphic check, and ownability. This helps each option feel not only interesting, but grounded enough to become part of a real brand.

01

Discovery and criteria

We talk through your product, audience, positioning, market, country, language needs, competitors, and what should be avoided. If you already have name ideas, we review them too.

02

Research and naming territories

Before we create names, we study the category, cultural context, symbols, audience expectations, and possible directions. As a brand naming agency, we define naming territories: strategic spaces where the name can live.

03

Name exploration

We move from territory to concept, then from concept to name. This is where strategy and creativity meet: we explore different meanings, symbols, sounds, languages, and emotional directions. We look for names that carry feeling and rhythm, but also have enough clarity.

04

Shortlist and rationale

You receive a curated set of name options. Each name comes with an explanation: meaning, associations, strengths, possible brand idea, tone, and how it may connect to slogans.

05

Preliminary screening

We check obvious risks: similar names, domain availability, pronunciation, sound, visual shape, cultural issues, and possible double meanings. It helps remove weak or risky options early.

06

Selection and handoff

After feedback and up to two revision rounds, you choose the name or direction that feels right. We can hand off the naming work as a standalone result or continue into visual identity and digital product design.

Renaming a property & lifestyle brand for a new stage of growth

The evolution from Wanderluxe (former Beach Life) to STATELY reflects the company’s expansion into new markets and a broader premium lifestyle offering. The goal was to create a sophisticated, versatile name that resonates with an affluent audience while conveying quality, trust, and stability.

We chose STATELY because it evokes prestige, distinguished homes, and elevated living, while also conveying the confidence, stability, and grace at the heart of the brand experience.

Strategic renaming for an AI-powered conversation intelligence platform

The transition from Sonara to CYCADA was driven by the need for a more distinctive and ownable brand name ahead of launch. The goal was to create a strong, memorable identity that clearly represented the company’s AI conversation intelligence platform and could stand out in the market.

CYCADA emerged as the right name to capture the evolution from voice to meaningful signal — reflecting how the platform turns conversations into intelligence and action. The adapted spelling gives the brand a modern, technology-driven character.

Naming an AI-powered boxing coaching platform

The transition from Cornerman AI to AMBO was driven by the need to move beyond a generic, descriptive working title and create a more distinctive identity for an AI-powered boxing coaching app. The goal was to establish a short, memorable, and easy-to-pronounce name that would stand out in search, work naturally in influencer and UGC content, and give the brand room to grow beyond literal boxing terminology.

We moved away from an expected category name and created something compact, energetic, and brandable. Its short form and strong phonetics make it easy to say, remember, and search — particularly important for a product designed to grow through video and social content.

Human-crafted names

AI can generate hundreds of name ideas in seconds. But they will hardly make sense for your product, audience, market, language, and culture. During our brand naming services, we use research, strategy, and human judgment to create names that are not only available as words, but feel right for the brand they need to carry.

    Brand potential

We choose names that can support identity, messaging, taglines, and future product growth.

What you get

The result of our product naming services is not only “a name.” It is a clearer view of how your brand should sound, what it should avoid, what kind of audience it speaks to, and which concepts can support the product long term.

Naming criteria

You get a better understanding of your product, audience, market, positioning, language needs, and things the name should avoid.

Curated name shortlist

After screening, you receive 10-12 proposed names with rationale, meaning, associations, strengths, and brand potential.

Preliminary screening

The sound, visual fit, cultural risks, connotations/associations, ownability, and basic domain or availability signals before final selection.

Revisions

As a naming agency, we include up to 2 revision rounds, with final recommendations and notes for identity, messaging, or product work.

Start of a visual system

A name is not a logo yet, but it already shapes how the brand can look, sound, and feel. After naming, you can continue into identity design, where the chosen name becomes a visual system.

Name sets the direction

The final name gives the brand a tone, rhythm, and point of view. It helps define what the identity should support.

Meaning becomes visual

Symbols, associations, and emotional cues behind the name can guide logo ideas, typography, color, and graphic language.

Voice becomes clearer

The name can influence taglines, product copy, brand voice, and how the company introduces itself.

Everything about our brand naming process

If you don’t see your question, just reach out—we’ll answer as soon as possible.

What does a naming agency do?

A naming agency helps you find a name that fits your product, audience, market, and brand strategy. At Shakuro, this includes discovery, research, naming territories, name creation, rationale, and preliminary checks for sound, meaning, visual fit, and ownability.

How much do brand naming services cost?

The cost depends on the scope: whether you need a company name, product name, sub-brand system, or naming as part of a larger identity project. Once we understand your goals, market, and timeline, we can estimate the work clearly.

How long does the naming process take?

A typical naming project takes a week or two. The timing depends on how much research is needed, how many decision-makers are involved, and whether the project includes revisions, domain checks, or identity work after naming.

Can naming be ordered separately from brand identity?

Yes. You can order naming as a standalone service and use the final direction with your own team. If you want to continue with Shakuro, we can also develop the chosen name into a visual identity and digital product experience.

How many naming options or directions will we receive?

You usually receive 10-12 name options and 4-5 directions with explanations for each one. We also include the thinking behind the names: meaning, associations, strengths, possible risks, and how each direction could support the brand.
