NPE is a mobile app for online parking space reserve. It is designed to help citizens and organizations of big cities like NYC have a guaranteed parking space. It’s like Uber for parking. A user can place an order and the app will suggest a parking space reserve job to the registered employees, who also benefit from the precise time tracking and clear report policy.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

No Parking Enforcement (NPE) is a mobile app allowing customers to submit parking space reserve requests. The application uses Google Maps to visually mark the parking space reserve jobs available for taking. It also tracks the employee working time, creates logs and reports, making a complete automated parking space tool.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Shakuro?

With a budget limited as ours, we wanted to automate our business without being too extravagant but with the opportunity to be able to afford more luxuries within the database in the near future.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

I asked for an accelerated delivery date with the full understanding that testing would be cut short. Due to limited testing/theorized methodology vs. reality of methodology some changes needed to be made and were done so within hours of receiving the edits. Consequently, Shakuro developed a proximate app with core functional and full testing potential.

What is the status of this engagement?

If i can make my current system amazing and the best it can possibly be to fulfill my company's needs, I could obtain new contracts. If i obtain new contracts, I want a database for each contract which could potentially reach upwards of 20 in the next 20 years. Realistically I need a database for the NO PARKING contracts and potential larger more complex contracts for FLAGGING. Which require different fields, variables etc. The general concepts are the same.

“I look forward to the next 20 years working with Shakuro, and Alex Chaly.”

If i can automate most of my business, I can focus on the areas that enable companies such as myself to grow and obtain more contracts and in turn hire Shakuro again. There is major opportunity here for not only me and my company, but for Shakuro.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

Alex has perfect English for all and anything involved in the scope of your companies services. The team seemed to do a great job in the sense of database design, MySQL, etc. In terms of UX and UI I would like more. I understand as a novice developer and programmer that as a client you need to be explicit. But I would like to see some initiative in design/layout options. I do not mean color schemes in this. Those are irrelevant, for now.

How did Shakuro perform from a project management standpoint?

There were misunderstandings in the area of project status transparency. Sometimes I thought certain aspects were part of a particular phase or round. But I do not place blame on anyone other than myself for not fully understanding/paying attention to our agreements. I am really talking about minor elements/features. Nothing major or on a large scale. Of 50 minor topics maybe 5%-10% I thought were part of a round 1 discussion that ended up as round 2. I acknowledge I am very busy and my mind is full of other things and easily I could have thought something was discussed that wasn’t. Alex did an exceptional job at documenting everything we discussed. I do not doubt him, his work ethic, and his results.

What did you find most impressive about Shakuro?

Shakuro delivered a compatible workmanship of a greater caliber than I have experienced with this current project. Knowing that the team on the other end is becoming personally invested in my project ensures me that I am not only getting what I think is best, but what the experts that are developing my system think is best.

Are there any areas Shakuro could improve?

Consider a design team offering different layouts/scheme samples for me to chose from. Right now there are many changes I would like to make to my design and layouts. Granted, I do not/cannot take on additional costs for these but within reason I feel some options should be offered or suggested that can be done.

I would like to see some more personal investment in the ideology/practicality/usability of the project/database. I understand project managers and teams may have many projects but knowing that someone on the other end is becoming personally invested in my project will ensure me that I am not only getting what I think best, but what the experts that are developing my system think best. I would like more suggestions, more open conversation about my business model and what exactly it is I am trying to accomplish. Not to say Alex and I didn’t do these things, but I feel if we could do them more that perhaps we would come to even more effective solutions.

How about a 10% returning customer discount for future projects? Haha, money is tight right now, start up costs are cruel!!!
